Doha:
The Qatar Olympic Academy is participating in the 19th National Olympic Academies Meeting, held at the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece, with broad representation from more than one hundred countries, showcasing the presence of national Olympic academies and committees worldwide.

Representing the Academy were Mr. Khalil Ibrahim Al Jaber, Executive Director, and Ms. Halima Daham Al Harbi, Academic Expert, in a presence that embodied the Academy’s commitment to engaging with the international Olympic community and strengthening bonds of cooperation and partnership.

The Qatari delegation attended the opening ceremony, which featured welcoming remarks by Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos, President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, who praised the vital role of Olympic academies in promoting the values of sport and advancing academic knowledge.

The delegation took part in a pivotal discussion session addressing inclusivity, integrity, and responsibility in the Olympic Games, exchanging perspectives on how to reinforce these values within a diverse and challenging global sports environment.

They also joined several workshops and panel discussions focusing on the development of academic programs, sharing expertise in sports institution management, and enhancing the role of academies in supporting both athletes and administrators.

The Academy’s participation reflects a clear strategy aimed at strengthening international cooperation by building bridges with Olympic academies and national committees, exchanging expertise through exposure to the latest academic and practical practices in sports management, and embedding Olympic values such as “integrity, inclusivity, and responsibility” in alignment with the vision of the Qatar Olympic Committee. It also supports national cadres by providing training and qualification opportunities in a multicultural international environment.

The National Olympic Academies Meeting serves as an annual platform bringing together representatives of sports academic institutions from across the globe to discuss current issues facing the Olympic movement, including governance and transparency challenges, enhancing women’s and youth participation in sport, developing innovative educational programs for athletes and administrators, and addressing ethical challenges in professional sports.

Through this participation, the Qatar Olympic Academy reaffirms its role as a key player in the international Olympic community, striving to contribute to shaping educational and sports policies, supporting sustainability initiatives in sport, and enhancing Qatar’s image as a global sports destination—particularly as Doha prepares to host the 2030 Asian Games.

Mr. Khalil Ibrahim Al Jaber, Executive Director of the Qatar Olympic Academy, emphasized that participation in the 19th National Olympic Academies Meeting in Olympia, Greece, marks an important milestone in the Academy’s journey to strengthen its international presence. He noted that the meeting provides a unique platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise among sports academic institutions worldwide.

Al Jaber stated: “Our presence at this meeting reflects the commitment of the State of Qatar and the Qatar Olympic Academy to promoting Olympic values and affirming the role of sport as a bridge for cultural and human communication. We are here not merely to attend, but to actively contribute to discussions on inclusivity, integrity, and responsibility—values that lie at the heart of the Olympic movement.”

He added that the Academy seeks through this participation to build strategic partnerships with its international counterparts and to develop educational and training programs aligned with the latest global trends, thereby preparing national cadres capable of leading sports work to the highest standards. He explained that the discussions held at the meeting on governance, transparency, and sustainability in sport represent a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and adopt best practices that can positively impact the development of the sports system in Qatar and the region.

Al Jaber highlighted the Academy’s special focus on inclusivity, working to ensure the participation of all groups in sports programs and activities without discrimination, thereby reinforcing the values of fairness and equality championed by the Olympic movement. He also stressed that integrity is a fundamental pillar of the Academy’s work, through its commitment to transparency in program management and ensuring a clean sporting environment free from unfair practices.

In conclusion, the Executive Director affirmed that the Qatar Olympic Academy will continue its active presence in such international forums and will work to translate the ideas and visions discussed into practical programs within Qatar, contributing to its strategic objectives of developing national cadres, enhancing Qatar’s position as a leader in sport and Olympic education, and building a sporting community founded on the values of integrity, inclusivity, and responsibility.
